La semana 4 de la temporada regular nos dejó cosas buenas, un mal resultado pero un futuro esperanzador, platiquemos un poquito más sobre la derrota de los Steelers ante los Jets y sobre el esperado debut del quarterback novato Kenny Pickett.
Sobre la primera mitad la verdad es que no tengo mucho por analizar, los castigos mataron muchas series ofensivas y la ofensiva se notó fuera de sincronía, pero para la segunda mitad Coach Tomlin decidió darle la oportunidad a Pickett. "Necesitábamos una chispa, no hicimos mucho en la primera mitad a la ofensiva", comentó nuestro head coach en su conferencia de prensa después del partido.
La chispa llegó para la ofensiva, más allá de el primer intento de pase que terminó en una intercepción, por lo menos vimos varias jugadas por aire de alto impacto y yardaje, las que hacen que la gente se emocione y el ánimo de todos suba. Eso y los dos touchdowns terrestres del QB novato dejan un buen sabor de boca a pesar de no tener un resultado favorable.
"Los fans son muy apasionados y quieren victorias, como todos nosotros, tenemos que ser mejores y salir victoriosos el siguiente partido." dijo Kenny Pickett ante los medios.
Nuestro quarterback también mencionó, "las entregas de balón nos mataron y eso fue culpa mía, tengo que cuidar más el balón" y es que Pickett lanzó tres intercepciones en dos cuartos de acción.
Sobre la defensiva habló Cam Heyward. " 14 puntos (en contra) en el último cuarto, la defensiva no respondió como debía en la segunda mitad, no hay coordinación en la defensiva ni atención a los detalles, sé que suena fácil decirlo, pero ese es el verdadero problema."
A mi parecer no podemos juzgar el futuro del equipo con Kenny Pickett al mando, es más no sabemos a ciencia cierta si será el titular la próxima semana. Lo que podemos aprender de este partido es que en la NFL siempre habrá circunstancias a las que te tienes que adaptar y quién logre hacerlo de la manera más rápida y eficiente posible siempre tendrá ventaja sobre su oponente, en general fue un partido parejo que los Jets supieron aprovechar y ejecutar las jugadas necesarias para ganar.
En la semana 5 visitamos a los Bills en Buffalo, Josh Allen y compañía tienen una ofensiva muy fuerte y TODO el equipo será exigido al máximo, ya analizaremos más a profundidad sobre nuestro rival.
