CHARLOTTE, N.C. – He opened the preseason by starting the first two games, and he closed it by leading the Steelers to a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth game.
The Steelers came back to defeat the Carolina Panthers, 17-14, to finish the preseason at 3-1, and the difference was a five-play, 53-yard drive in 47 seconds that Dobbs capped off himself with a 1-yard touchdown run. On the final drive, Dobbs converted a third-and-7 with a 15-yard pass to Marcus Tucker, and then on the next play he again hooked up with Tucker, this one for 34 yards to the Carolina 1-yard line. From there, Dobbs ran it into the end zone for the deciding points on the next play.
For the entire game, Dobbs completed 16-of-23 for 212 yards, with one touchdown, no interceptions, and a rating of 113. He also rushed five times for 9 yards and a touchdown. Dobbs is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were Tucker, who caught five passes for 83 yards; Terrell Watson, who rushed for 89 yards on 19 carries, and also caught two passes for 5 yards; Justin Hunter, who caught three passes for 75 yards, including one for a 58-yard touchdown from Dobbs; cornerback Mike Hilton, who finished with four tackles and a sack; Tyler Matakevich, who had six tackles, including two for loss; Malik Golden, who had three tackles and an interception; and Jacob Hagen, who had two tackles, an interception, and two passes defensed.
