The Steelers wrapped up their preparation for Sunday night's game against the Buffalo Bills but will go into the huge AFC game without a few key players.
Cornerback Joe Haden, who is in the concussion protocol, and linebacker Robert Spillane, who injured his knee against Washington, didn't practice for the third straight day and have been ruled out.
With Spillane out, and Vince Williams on the COVID-19 List, the team will rely on Avery Williamson, who was acquired via a trade with the New York Jets earlier in the season. Williamson said it's painful to see the injuries and situation at inside linebacker, but is excited about the opportunity ahead of him.
"I am super excited and ready for this opportunity," said Williamson. "I didn't know how things were going to play out, but it's kind of crazy the way the last week has spiraled. I have been a starter for a long time, and I am ready to go out there and prove myself again."
Receiver Chase Claypool, who didn't practice on Thursday because of an illness, was a full participant on Friday. Kicker Chris Boswell, who was held out of the Washington game with a hip injury and defensive lineman Chris Wormley (illness) practiced for the second-straight day and aren't on the status report.
Cornerback Steven Nelson, who suffered a knee injury against Baltimore that forced him to miss the Washington game, was a full participant in practice for the third straight day, a positive sign with Haden ruled out.
