The Steelers made several roster moves on Saturday, including signing receiver Deon Cain and running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. to the 53-man roster.
Cain was signed from the Indianapolis Colts practice squad, where he has been since Nov. 9. Cain started three games this season for the Colts and has four receptions for 52 yards. He was waived by the Colts, then added back to their practice squad.
Cain was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He was injured in training camp his rookie season, spending the year on the Reserve/Injured list.
Whyte was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft and signed off of the Bears practice squad. Whyte had 18 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown in the preseason.
While at Florida Atlantic University he rushed for 1,358 yards, had 2,115 yards on kick returns, and a total of 3,700 all-purpose yards.
The Steelers released linebacker Jayrone Elliott and running back Tony Brooks-James to make room for them.
