Los Pittsburgh Steelers cayeron 20-17 contra los Dallas Cowboys en el partido correspondiente a la semana 5 de la temporada regular de la NFL. Fue un partido parejo en el que se cometieron muchos errores por ambos equipos y que se decidió en un dramático final con menos de un minuto en el reloj de juego.
La historia no fue muy diferente con lo que hemos visto que falta por mejorar del equipo en estas primeras cinco semanas, la ofensiva sigue teniendo un arranque muy lento en la primera mitad del partido y no logra establecer el dominio o ventaja deseada por falta de efectividad en terceras oportunidades, errores básicos en la ejecución o pañuelos por faltas de concentración y disciplina.
"No hay nada místico con el resultado, creo que no hicimos lo suficiente durante 60 minutos para salir victoriosos, específicamente creo que arrancamos lento con la ofensiva y nos hicimos heridas autoinflingidas, castigos y falta de concentración" fueron las palabras de Mike Tomlin después del partido.
La ofensiva es un punto a mejorar y Coach Tomlin y los jugadores lo tienen muy claro.
La defensiva dio un buen partido, provocó tres entregas de balón forzadas con dos intercepciones y un sack fumble de T.J. Watt, misma captura que significó la número 100 en la carrera del linebacker de los Steelers.
Nick Herbig quien estaba teniendo un gran partido y había suplido de manera extraordinaria la ausencia por lesión de Alex Highsmith, no pudo terminar el juego debido a una lesión en el muslo.
Los equipos especiales también se lucieron con un gol de campo bloqueado y Boswell certero en el único intento de gol de campo que tuvo y en sus dos puntos extra.
En la segunda mitad vimos un partido completamente diferente por parte de ambos equipos, Justin Fields lanzó para dos pases de anotación, uno a Connor Heyward y otro para Pat Freiermuth que ponía la ventaja 17 -13 a favor de los Steelers con poco menos de cinco minutos de juego en el reloj.
"Tenemos que ser mucho mejores y no dispararnos nosotros mismos en el pie, tenemos que aprovechar los balones que recupera nuestra defensiva para tener mejor control en los partidos", fueron las palabras de Justin Fields ante los medios de comunicación.
La defensiva tomó el campo pero los Cowboys lograron avanzar el balón hasta la yarda cuatro de los Steelers, quienes defendieron de manera increíble durante tres oportunidades, de hecho Elandon Roberts provocó un balón suelto en la yarda uno que casi recuperamos con lo que se hubiera terminado el partido de haberlo recuperado. En cuarta oportunidad Dak Prescott conectó Tolbert y sentenció el encuentro.
