The Steelers placed tackle Troy Fautanu on the Reserve/Injured List.
Fautanu, the team's No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, suffered a knee injury during the preseason opener, missing the rest of the preseason. He started last week against the Denver Broncos but landed back on the injury report on Friday.
With Fautanu out, tackle Broderick Jones said on Friday he will be ready to go on Sunday against the Chargers.
"I'll be all right. I have been here before," said Jones. "I just have to get out there and do it if my name is called."
It was intended for Jones and Fautanu to rotate series against the Broncos last week, but after Jones committed three penalties in six plays, he was pulled for Fautanu.
Jones said he feels confident that all is good.
"I feel like I got better this week during practice for the most part," said Jones. "I've just got to continue to just stay upright because it's a long season, and we're always trying to just take care of the body as much as possible. Then, just being available."
The Steelers also elevated offensive lineman John Leglue from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive Roster for the game.
Leglue returned to the Steelers practice squad this year after spending the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Leglue was first signed to the Steelers practice squad in 2020, spending two seasons with the team and appeared in six games in 2021.
He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent, signing with the Denver Broncos following the 2019 NFL Draft. He was released by the Broncos following the 2019 training camp and was signed to the New Orleans Saints practice squad. The Green Bay Packers signed Leglue off the Saints practice squad in 2019. He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans.
