At halftime on Sunday night, LB Kevin Greene received his Hall of Fame ring in a special on-field ceremony. An event that was being met with excitement by fans, Bill Bennett of West Mifflin, PA, had a vantage point that was totally different than any other fan in Heinz Field.
Bennett had just settled in at his seats and was celebrating the Steelers first score of the game in the first quarter on Sunday night. Then Steelers Nation Unite showed up with a surprise that made a dominating performance by the Steelers even more memorable for the longtime season ticket holder.
The official home of Steelers Nation, Steelers Nation Unite rewards fans everywhere with unforgettable experiences and exclusive benefits.
As a reward for RSVP'ing to the game as a member of Steelers Nation Unite, Bennett and his guests, friend Mike Yuhas and his son, Ty Yuhas, were invited to field level to watch the ring presentation right on the grass. On top of that, the group got to hang out with Greene at the end of the second quarter where they got a photo with the Hall of Famer and met former LB Greg Lloyd.
For Bennett, who used to work security for Steelers games, the experience was a dream come true.
"When I was just out of high school I used to work security for the games," Bennett explained. "I used to sit here and see Kevin Greene and Greg Lloyd. It's just amazing to see them all here today. To see this happening is an honor."
For a lifelong Steelers fan, an experience like this, even one that took place in heavy rain, is an experience he'll have to remember for a long time.
"I'm 40 years old and I've been watching the Steelers all my life. I've been a season ticket holder for 20 years now and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. It's beautiful," said Bennett.
Sitting around the 20-yard line on Heinz Field, just yards away from Greene as he received his ring, the smiles were wide and the Terrible Towels were flying. And when Styx stepped to the microphone for a live rendition of the song Renegade, it capped off a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for a group of friends and diehard fans.
The experiences with Greene did not stop on Sunday, either. On Monday afternoon, a group of members and season ticket holders enjoyed a luncheon and Q&A session with Greene in the PNC Champions Club at Heinz Field. Each guest also left with a signed photo of Greene at his Hall of Fame enshrinement.
It was another game day and game weekend made even more memorable for fans through Steelers Nation Unite, the official home of Steelers Nation.
