The NFL Players Association announced its annual Players' All-Pro team today, with those who made it selected strictly by NFL players themselves.
Steelers kicker Chris Boswell and special teamer Miles Killebrew were all voted First-Team NFLPA Players' All-Pro. Boswell was selected as a 'long kicker,' while Killebrew is a 'core teamer.' Both are first time selections to the list.
Players voted for those with the most impact during the season at their own position, as well as those they line up against.
Boswell, who was also selected to the Pro Bowl Games, connected on an NFL high 41 of 44 field goal attempts this season (93.2%). He was also perfect on 35 extra point attempts. He made 13 field goals of 50 or more yards this season.
"What can you say about Chris Boswell in 2024 that hadn't been written or said," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "He's been everything that we need him to be. He is performing at an extremely high level and we're extremely comfortable in calling upon him in just about any circumstances. It's just been special.
"And to do what he's done, obviously with a change at holder in the middle of the thing, is doubly impressive."
Boswell was named the AFC Special teams Player of the Week for his Week 11 performance when he accounted for all the scoring in the Steelers 18-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens, hitting on six field goals, including three from 50 plus yards. Boswell became the first Steelers kicker to hit three field goals of 50 plus yards when he did so against the Falcons, and now is the only player to have done it twice as well.
Boswell also won AFC Special teams Player of the Week in Week 1 against the Falcons, and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September and October.
Killebrew, who was selected to the Pro Bowl Games and Associated Press All-Pro in 2023, had another strong season in 2024.
Killebrew, the Steelers special teams captain, has 13 special teams tackles, eight of them solo stops.
Killebrew has blocked three punts since signing with the Steelers in 2021, and has four blocked punts in his career.
He has seen a shift in the Steelers special teams since he arrived with blocking kicks such a focus, and it's something he loves.
"It's become a culture shift," said Killebrew. "Just in the time that I've been here, I've been able to see just how much attention to detail goes into preparing to block a kick, whether it be the PAT block or the punt unit.
"I'm really excited to be a part of it. I'm trying to do my part and we're all just pitching in and under one common belief that any play, we can block it."
Criteria for player voting:
- Only active NFL players can vote and they get only one vote.
- If a player missed five or more games as of Week 15, then they are ineligible. This is to ensure that we are choosing the best players who had the most impact this season.
- Players cannot vote for themselves or for their own teammates
- Players vote for the position group they play in and line up against.
For example, centers can vote for:
The best Center in the league
The best nose tackle in the league
The best Interior defensive lineman in the league
The best off-ball linebacker in the league
