Los Pittsburgh Steelers visitarán a los Denver Broncos en el partido correspondiente a la semana 2. Es un partido que tiene un sabor especial porque significa el regreso de Russell Wilson a Denver pero todo parece indicar que Justin Fields será el titular para este partido debido a la lesión en la pantorrilla de la que todavía no se ha podido recuperar Wilson.
"En este momento nos estamos preparando pensando en que Justin será nuestro quarterback. Creo que es la manera correcta de hacerlo. La especulación es una pérdida de tiempo, Russell está lastimado y no está disponible para nosotros", fueron las palabras de nuestro Head Coach, Mike Tomlin en su conferencia de prensa semanal.
Justin Fields se fue con 17-23 pases completos para 156 yardas y 57 yardas por tierra. Un tema a ponerle atención para la ofensiva es la eficiencia de terceras oportunidades, en la semana 1 la unidad convirtió 8 de 17, de las cuales 5 fueron carreras de nuestro quarterback.
En la previa de la semana uno comentamos que probablemente veríamos una buena cantidad de playaction con la ofensiva y así fue, más del 50% de los dropbacks de Fields fueron este tipo de jugadas. Habrá que ver como evoluciona el juego por aire en este segundo partido.
A la defensiva el matchup luce bien, los Broncos tienen a Bo Nix, un quarterback novato que tendrá enfrente a T.J. Watt, quién sigue brillando con luz propia y tendrá un enfrentamiento favorecedor ante Mike McGlinchey, tackle derecho de los Broncos que no tuvo su mejor partido en la semana 1. Los Steelers tienen marca de 9-2 contra QBs novatos desde que T.J. Watt llegó a la NFL en 2017.
Bo Nix no tuvo un buen partido de debut contra Seattle, lanzando 2 intercepciones y promediando 3.3 yardas por pase. Buenas noticias del perímetro de Pittsburgh, quienes tuvieron una actuación sobresaliente la semana pasada, Joey Porter permitió solamente 7 yardas por aire y Donte Jackson no dejó pasar nada por su territorio y se llevó una intercepción.
Los Steelers no han tenido un arranque 2-0 en temporada regular desde el 2020.
