The Steelers will be relying on some young defensive linemen today with nose tackle Tyson Alualu on the inactive list. Alualu was ruled out on Friday after suffering a knee injury against the Ravens.
With Alualu out, Isaiah Buggs could be a key factor, while getting help from Henry Mondeaux and rookie Carlos Davis.
"I am ready, and I am prepared," said Buggs. "Learning from Tyson, (Stephon) Tuitt and Cam (Heyward), those guys I have been around for two years. Just watching those guys, learning how they play and do things around here, I am sure I am ready for the opportunity."
In addition to Alualu, cornerback Mike Hilton and fullback Derek Watt will also be inactive. Hilton (shoulder) was listed as doubtful on the status report on Friday, but Watt wasn't on the status report this week.
Two players who are active today are linebackers Avery Williamson and Jayrone Elliott. Both were activated to the 53-man roster on Saturday. Williamson was acquired via a trade with the New York Jets earlier in the week, while Elliott was brought up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
In addition to Alualu, Hilton and Watt, quarterback Josh Dobbs, tight end Zach Gentry and offensive lineman Derwin Gray are inactive.
