For the second week in a row the Steelers inactives are dictated by injuries, this week hitting the offensive side of the ball.
The team will be without receiver Chase Claypool, who suffered a hamstring injury in practice during the week. Claypool was listed as questionable on Friday but was downgraded to out on Saturday.
On the offensive line Chukwuma Okorafor (concussion) and Rashaad Coward (ankle) are both inactive after being ruled out on Friday. With Okorafor out, one player who could be called upon is veteran Joe Haeg, who the Steelers signed this offseason. Haeg stepped in against the Bengals after Okorafor suffered the concussion, playing 30 snaps.
"I thought he gave us a solid effort," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "That's one of the things that attracted us to him. He's been a swing tackle for the better part of his career, a guy that's capable of stepping up and playing above the line on a limited amount of exposure. He is equally effective at right tackle as he is at left. He also has been involved in some short yardage tight end things and functions in the past, and all of that was attractive."
The defensive line will be without Carlos Davis, inactive for the third-straight week with a knee injury.
The defense will get a boost this week, with outside linebackers T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith both back in action after missing the Bengals game.
The Steelers elevated wide receiver Cody White and offensive tackle Chaz Green to the Active/Inactive roster from the practice squad ahead of today's game. White was also activated for last Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, finishing with two receptions for 17 yards. White was originally signed to the Steelers practice squad near the start of the 2020 season, spending the entire season there. Green signed with the Steelers shortly before the start of the 2021 training camp. After the game, both White and Green will automatically revert to the practice squad without having to pass through waivers.
Also inactive today are quarterback Dwayne Haskins, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and linebacker Buddy Johnson.
