The Pittsburgh Steelers made a contribution to the WPIAL Scholarship Fund in conjunction with the WPIAL Championships this weekend, it was announced today.
The $10,000 contribution will add to the fund that awards scholarships annually to student-athletes from schools and school districts comprising the WPIAL in District 7.
"Like many of the players and programs in the Pittsburgh area, the WPIAL championship games at Heinz Field are something we look forward to each season, and although we are unable to host the football championships at Heinz Field this season, we are pleased to show our support for youth football and high school sports by making a contribution to the WPIAL Scholarship Fund this year." Steelers President Art Rooney II said.
