Five Fast Facts: Christian Kuntz

Learn more about long snapper Christian Kuntz in this edition of Five Fast Facts.

1. Kuntz signed a new three-year contract to remain with the Steelers this offseason. Kuntz, a Pittsburgh native, has been the team's long snapper the last three seasons, playing in a total of 51 games.

2. Kuntz has his own foundation, 4 Ki6s Foundation, which supports youth in the Pittsburgh area in multiple ways. Kuntz main focus for the foundation is youth sports, himself growing up in the Pittsburgh sports scene from youth football, through high school, college and now in the NFL. Kuntz held his first ever youth football camp in 2023, and also partnered on a Pittsburgh themed pickleball paddle to benefit the foundation and held a golf outing.

3. Kuntz played at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where he finished with a school record 30.5 sacks while playing linebacker, winning two Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year awards and is the only player in school history to earn All-American honors three times for head coach Jerry Schmitt.

He added long snapper duties to his resume his fifth season, something that has paid dividends.

"My fifth year, my senior year, our (long-snapper) didn't come back and I had to do it," said Kuntz. "Coach Schmitt, he loved that I had to be the long-snapper and play linebacker. He loved the fact that I was running downfield and making half the plays on the punt team. Then, after the season, he told me I should be ready to long snap on my pro day. I was about as ready as I could have been. But he was right."

4. Kuntz was inducted into the Duquesne Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.

5. Kuntz, who originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2017, played high school football and baseball at Chartiers Valley High School in the Pittsburgh area.
