Week 11: Steelers vs. Ravens
Bio: Abby Winkler is an illustrator living in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2011, she graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BFA in studio art. Although her background is in painting, she gravitated towards illustration and its ability to use drawing as an educational tool. Her background as a fine artist initiated her love of color and composition, and her experience as a commercial artist sparked an interest in hand-lettering and vintage-style graphics.
Her favorite projects to work on allow her to bring her individual style to help tell someone's story, or to explain the significance of beloved places. Since 2017, she has been steadily working on a personal illustration project called 100 Days of Pittsburgh (#100daysofpittsburgh on Instagram), where she illustrates 100 people, places and landmarks connected to Pittsburgh. This has been invaluable in finding her creative voice and personal style, and has allowed her to work with local clients who have a shared interest.
Abby strives to create illustrations that inform in an approachable and fun way, using joyful color palettes and inventive lettering styles. Her specialties are portraits, hand-lettering, and architecture. Everything is drawn by hand with a pen, usually a Micron fineliner. She adds color digitally in Photoshop, or sometimes applies it traditionally with watercolor or gouache. Also, she likes to scan in textures made by hand to layer within her illustrations in order to further incorporate a handcrafted touch. This marriage of analog and digital techniques is something that keeps her endlessly interested and helps to create the most dynamic images possible.

Week 3: Steelers vs. Chargers
Bio: Hi, my name is Matt Spahr. I'm one of the local artists selected to design one of this year's Steelers home game posters.
I grew up during one of the most exciting era of Steelers football, the 1970's and early 80's. Along with being a huge Pittsburgh sports fan, I was also very much into comic books and skateboarding. From an artistic perspective, I've always been the kind of guy who'd rather read a copy of Vaughn Bodé's Cheech Wizard than stand in a museum, staring at paintings that, more times than not, mean nothing to me. Over the years, not much has changed in that regard. I still love comics, skateboarding, graffiti, rock music and smash mouth Steelers football.
Some of the fine folks that I've had the pleasure of working with are: Condado tacos (Team Lead, 12 locations, from here to Huntsville, AL), Millie's Ice Cream, Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group and Pyrotecnico Fireworks, just to name a few.
I also work as a freelance illustrator when I'm not up in a scissor lift painting murals. I'd like to mention that working on this project has been a blast, and it's my hope that fans like the poster as much as I liked making it.
