Twenty-three days on campus. Fifteen practices that are open to the public. Two night practices. Two joint practices with the Buffalo Bills. Weekdays set as the players' day off until after the preseason games begin, which means Steelers fans can choose between July 26-27 and Aug. 2-3 if their plan is to spend a whole weekend watching their favorite football team.
The Steelers will open their 2014 training camp at Saint Vincent College on Friday, July 25, with the first day's schedule including the annual conditioning run and then a team meeting. The campus then will open to fans on Saturday, July 26, and the first of the 15 practices to be open to the public is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
According to the CBA, all teams must conduct two padless practices at the beginning of camp, and for the Steelers those will be held on July 26-27.
Then on Monday, July 28, the pads go on, and the hitting will begin with that afternoon's practice, also scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Other highlights of this particular Steelers' stay in Latrobe will be the annual "Friday Night Lights" workout on Friday, Aug. 1, as well as a two-day visit from the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 13-14.
The "Friday Night Lights" practice is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Aug. 1 and will be held at Latrobe Stadium. The practice will be preceded by an autograph session.
The Buffalo Bills will be on campus for back-to-back joint practice sessions with the Steelers in the middle of what will be the team's final week at Saint Vincent College. The Tuesday, Aug. 13 practice is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., with the Wednesday, Aug. 14 session set to start at 5:30 p.m. That Aug. 14 session also will be the final one open to the public this summer.
