IKE TAYLORCornerback
Games against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are never an easy proposition for a defensive back, but Ike Taylor was up to the challenge. Throughout the game his tackling was crisp – he finished with four – and he also came up with a pass defensed and his second interception of the season when he read Brees and came off his man to make the play.
Taylor is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were Lawrence Timmons, whose 12 tackles led the team, and two of those were in the backfield; Bryant McFadden, who had seven tackles, a sack and a forced fumble; and Rashard Mendenhall, who finished with 74 yards on 15 carries, including a 38-yard touchdown run that got the Steelers to within 13-10 in the fourth quarter.
