The Steelers made a roster move today when they signed first-year linebacker Brandon Renkart to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Renkart (6-2, 245) was originally signed a free agent by the New York Jets in July, 2008 before being waived prior to the start of the regular season. He spent time on the Jets' practice squad in 2008 and then was released following their 2009 training camp. Renkart spent time on the Arizona Cardinals' practice during the 2009 season and then was signed to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on Dec. 30, 2009. He was recently waived by the Colts.
The Steelers made room for Renkart on their roster by placing six-year veteran linebacker Andre Frazier on the Reserve/Injured List with a knee injury. Frazier was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2005 and then spent time on the team's active roster in 2005 and again from 2007-09. He also spent time on the Cincinnati Bengals roster in 2006-07.
