The Steelers have signed veteran cornerback William Gay, the team announced today. Financial terms of the three-year contract were not disclosed.
Gay, who was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft (170th overall), returns to the Steelers after spending the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals. Last season Gay started 15-of-16 games played, recording eight passes defensed, two interceptions three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
In his five seasons with Pittsburgh (2007-11), Gay started 37-of-80 regular-season games played and registered 235 tackles, three interceptions, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also started three of eight postseason games he played in and helped the Steelers win two AFC Championships and Super Bowl XLIII.
