Steelers Promote QB Palko to Active Roster

PITTSBURGH ─ The Steelers announced they have added depth at the quarterback position by promoting second-year QB Tyler Palko to their active roster.

Palko (6-1, 215), a Pittsburgh native, was signed to the Steelers' practice squad earlier this week as a free agent. Palko was in training camp with the Arizona Cardinals in 2009 before being released prior to the regular season. He originally signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2007 out of Pittsburgh. Palko spent four games on the Saints' active roster as the 3rd quarterback and the remainder of the season on New Orleans' practice squad. He did not play in 2008 after being released by the Saints in training camp.

The Steelers made room for Palko on their active roster by releasing seventh-year veteran WR Shaun McDonald. He played in four games this year for Pittsburgh but was inactive for the past three games. McDonald did not record a reception this year for the Steelers.
