Quarterback Landry Jones will make his first NFL start today against the Kansas City Chiefs, as both Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Vick are inactive for today's game.
Jones will be backed up by Tyler Murphy, who was activated from the team's practice squad on Saturday.
"I felt like I was prepared and ready to go last week and took advantage of what they gave me," said Jones earlier this week. "I think this week, if I just keep plugging away and getting in the playbook and watching film, I should be ready to go."
While Roethlisberger practiced this week, his injured knee will keep him out at least this week.
The Steelers will also be without starting safety Will Allen, starting defensive end Stephon Tuitt and special teams ace Terence Garvin. The Steelers do get linebacker Ryan Shazier back today, as well as linebacker Jarvis Jones.
