Steelers announce 2024 game themes

The excitement is growing for the 2024 season with the schedule full of games against some of the NFL's top opponents, as well as exciting themes and celebrations, many of which are now known.

Before the games begin, Steelers Training Camp presented by FedEx will welcome fans from all over to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. In addition to practice, there will Legends meet-and-greets, football activities for kids, Steelers merchandise and food trucks. Admission to open practices is FREE, but you MUST have a mobile ticket. Fans are able to secure their tickets via Ticketmaster and learn more here.

The fun will kick off in the preseason when the Steelers host the Houston Texans on Friday, Aug. 9. The game will be the Steelers 'Play Football' game, with activities throughout the evening celebrating the young athletes who play the sport, from those just getting started through the high school level. There will also be halftime activities highlighting area athletes.

The Steelers preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, Aug. 17, will be 'Family Day' at Acrisure Stadium, with activities before and during the game geared toward families.

The Steelers will celebrate Kickoff Weekend when they play the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8 in Atlanta. There will be excitement in Pittsburgh as well, as the annual Steelers Run Walk and Kids Fun Run will be held then . The event benefits the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund and the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research. Fans can register here.

The Kickoff and Rib Festival at Acrisure Stadium, presented by I.C. Light, will run from August 29 through September 2. Admission is free, and there is something for everyone. Enjoy National rib vendors, football, music, activities and much more. Learn more here.

The Steelers first home game of the regular season will be on Sunday, Sept. 22 against the Los Angeles Chargers and the team will celebrate being back in front of the home fans.

The NFL has partnered with the American Cancer Society for the 16th consecutive season for 'Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer.' The initiative supports the fight against cancer and is highlighted by NFL teams during October. The Steelers will host their Crucial Catch game on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they take on the Dallas Cowboys at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday Night Football. There will be no shortage of support throughout Acrisure Stadium, with on-field stencils and goal post wraps being among the featured items supporting Crucial Catch. Players and coaches will also show their support, with sideline apparel visible.

This is also the weekend the Steelers will host their annual fundraising event, Steelers Style event, which will be held on Fri., Oct. 4., and is the team's largest philanthropic event, benefiting UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, Cancer Bridges & the Chuck Noll Foundation. The Steelers will celebrate their rich tradition of Alumni Weekend when they host the New York Jets on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The weekend will highlight the 50th Anniversary of the Super Bowl IX team from the 1974 season. The Alumni Dinner, where former Steelers share iconic behind-the-scenes stories from their time with the team, will be held on Sat., Oct. 19. The event benefits the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program. A limited number of tickets are available for purchase here.

Honoring those who have served our country is something the Steelers have done for decades, and that tradition will continue when the team hosts the Salute to Service game when the team plays the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 17. Since the inception of the NFL's Salute to Service initiative, the Steelers have honored countless veterans at the annual game and celebrated those who continue to serve in all branches of the armed forces.

The Steelers will welcome the 2024 Hall of Honor Class when the team takes on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Dec. 8, which includes an on-field presentation during the game. The Hall of Honor Dinner will be held on Sat., Dec. 7, when the team officially inducts this year's Hall of Honor class during a special ceremony at Acrisure Stadium. It's not unusual to see players on the field in pregame warmups with their cleats representing their city, showing their personality or just something fun to fire them up. But when the Steelers take on the Browns the same week as Hall of Honor, their cleats will take on a whole new look, showing off something they are passionate about. For the eighth year the NFL will support players representing a charity or cause with the league's player cause initiative, My Cause, My Cleats. After the players wear the cleats, they have the option to auction them off to raise money for their cause on NFL Auction, with 100% of the funds raised given to the charity. Fans may bid on player cleats at NFL.com/Auction.

The team will take part in the NFL's social justice campaign, 'Inspire Change,' with social justice issues at the forefront in their community efforts when they host the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, Wed., Dec. 25.

The annual 'Thank You Fans' game will take place when the Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals. The date for the game has yet to be announced. It's an opportunity for the organization to show their gratitude for all the support during the season and year-round from Steelers Nation. There will be giveaways and a lot of excitement for fans in attendance and Steelers Nation all over as the team celebrates the holidays and says thank you.
