Steelers Announce 2012 Preseason Schedule

The Steelers will play one nationally televised game during the 2012 preseason, a Sunday night matchup at Heinz Field against the Indianapolis Colts, and will also host the Carolina Panthers, the team announced today.

The Steelers will open the 2012 preseason on the road vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, marking Pittsburgh's first preseason visit to Philadelphia since 2006. This will mark the eighth time in the last 10 years that Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have played in the preseason, with five of those games being played in Pittsburgh. The game will be televised locally on KDKA-TV.

The Steelers host the Colts in a nationally televised contest on Sunday, Aug. 19 (Week 2), at Heinz Field. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be televised on NBC (locally WPXI-TV). It marks the first preseason matchup between the teams since 2000 when they met in Mexico City. The last time the Colts played in Pittsburgh during the preseason was in 1994.

Pittsburgh goes back on the road for a Week 3 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, which will be televised on KDKA-TV. The Steelers have not played a preseason game in Buffalo since 1999. The last time the Steelers played Buffalo in the preseason was in 2009 at Heinz Field.

The Steelers will conclude the preseason at home vs. the Carolina Panthers, marking the 10th consecutive year the two teams will play in the preseason finale. The game also will be televised locally by KDKA-TV.

The times and dates for the three games to be televised on KDKA-TV have yet to be finalized.
