Statement from Team President Art Rooney II on the passing of Jimmy Orr:
I want to send my condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Jimmy Orr. Jimmy was probably the first dangerous wide receiver in Steelers history. With the exception of Elbie Nickel, the Steelers were mostly a 3-yards and a cloud of dust offense prior to Jimmy Orr, Buddy Dial and Bobby Layne joining the team in the early 1960s.
Jimmy left us and went on to become one of the favorite targets of Johnny Unitas. He was a great player who would have been an all-time Steeler had he stayed with us. Rest in peace, Jimmy Orr.
