After a vote of the team on Sunday, the Steelers announced their six captains for the 2009 NFL season.

The captains on offense are Hines Ward and Ben Roethlisberger; it will be James Farrior and James Harrison for the defense; and Jeff Reed and Keyaron Fox for special teams.

Also, two of the players the Steelers waived on Saturday were claimed by other teams on Sunday and added to their 53-man rosters.

Defensive end Sonny Harris, a sixth-round draft choice who finished the preseason with six tackles and two sacks, was claimed by the Carolina Panthers. Harris had one of his two sacks in the preseason finale against the Panthers on Sept. 3.

Defensive back Roy Lewis, who joined the team as an undrafted rookie in 2008 and spent that season on the practice squad, was claimed by the Seattle Seahawks.
