Reconnaissance mission

The Steelers may have today off but the rest of the AFC North Division is working.

So is the Steelers' next opponent.

Following is a look at how the games involving the Ravens, Bengals, Browns and Commanders break down thanks to NFL Research:

BRONCOS (5-3) at RAVENS (5-3), 1 p.m.

Denver: The Broncos have won five of six since a 13-6 loss to the Steelers on Sept. 15 in Denver. They've scored at least 28 points in three of their last four games, including last Sunday's 28-14 win over Carolina. Quarterback Bo Nix posted career-high figures by completing 75.7 percent of his passes, throwing for 284 yards, throwing three touchdown passes (without an interception) and compiling a passer rating of 124.2 against the Panthers. Nix also had a rushing touchdown.

Baltimore: The Ravens are coming off a 29-24 loss to the Browns in Cleveland that snapped a five-game winning streak. Two of Baltimore's three losses have come against teams that are currently 2-6 (the Browns and Raiders; the other loss was to the 7-0 Chiefs). The Ravens' offense leads the NFL with 41 plays of 20-plus yards in 2024 but the Ravens' defense has allowed the most plays of 20-plus yards (40) this season. Baltimore is No. 1 in total offense (452.1 yards per game) and No. 2 in scoring offense (30.3 points per game) but No. 25 in total defense (361.3 y.p.g.) and No. 26 in scoring defense (26.2 p.p.g.)

COMMANDERS (6-2) at GIANTS (2-6), 1 p.m.

Washington: The Commanders travel to New Jersey before hosting the Steelers on Nov. 10. Quarterback Jayden Daniels beat the Bears last Sunday, 18-15, on a last-play, 52-yard "Hail Mary" touchdown pass. Daniels' 53.0 rushing yards per game ranks second behind Robert Griffin III's Offensive Rookie of the Year season (54.3 in 2012). Daniels' 8.4 passing yards per attempt ranks second behind Ben Roethlisberger's Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign (8.9 in 2004). Washington averages 165.8 yards per game on the ground (third-most in the NFL behind the Ravens and Eagles) and 29.5 points per game (third-most in the NFL behind the Lions and Ravens).

New York: The Giants lost to the Steelers, 26-18, last Monday night at Acrisure Stadium. New York lost to Washington, 21-18, on Sept. 15 at Washington, despite not allowing a touchdown. Quarterback Daniel Jones is 0-6, with zero touchdown passes and zero rushing TDs in his last six home starts over the last two seasons (0-4 in 2024). The Giants lead the NFL with 35 sacks in 2024 (nose tackle Dexter Lawrence is the individual leader with a career-high nine). New York has registered just one defensive interception and none since Week One.

RAIDERS (2-6) at BENGALS (3-5), 1 p.m.

Las Vegas: The Raiders have lost four consecutive games, including last Sunday's 27-20 decision to Kansas City. Las Vegas has turned the ball over at least once in all eight games and has an NFL-worst 17 giveaways overall and an NFL-worst minus 13 turnover differential (tied with Tennessee). Quarterback Gardner Minshew started again against Kansas City after a recent benching and responded by completing 80 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and a passer rating of 117.9. The Raiders are one of three teams, along with the Titans and Panthers, scoring fewer than 20.0 p.p.g. (18.0) and allowing 25-plus p.p.g. (26.3).

Cincinnati: The Bengals are 0-4 at home, including last Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Eagles. Three teams that had a losing record through eight games made the playoffs in 2023 (the Buccaneers, Packers and Rams). Quarterback Joe Burrow is 14-5 in November or later since 2021 (second-best in the NFL in that span behind Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes, 22-6). Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase leads the NFL with 674 receiving yards and seven receiving TDs. Burrow has 12 touchdown passes and two interceptions when Chase and wide receiver Tee Higgins are both on the field (120.4 passer rating), and three touchdowns and one interception when Chase or Higgins isn't in the game (89.2 passer rating).

CHARGERS (4-3) at BROWNS (2-6), 1 p.m.

Los Angeles: The Chargers handled the Saints, 26-8, last Sunday. LA boasts the NFL's top-ranked scoring defense (13.0 p.p.g.), is tied for No. 1 in fewest first downs allowed per game (15.9) and has the fourth-best red zone defense (41.7 red zone touchdown percent). The Chargers matched their season-high 26 points against the Saints and quarterback Justin Herbert wasn't intercepted for a fifth consecutive start (the longest active such streak in NFL). Herbert also threw for 200-plus yards for the third straight game and rushed for a season-high 49 yards against New Orleans.

Cleveland: The Browns' win over the Ravens snapped a five-game losing streak. Quarterback Jameis Winston made his first start of 2024 and responded by throwing for 334 yards, with three touchdowns, no interceptions and a passer rating of 115.3. Running back Nick Chubb has 27 carries, 74 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown over the last two games, his first two back since suffering a season-ending knee injury last season. The Browns hit the 20-point plateau for the first time in the Ravens game. Cleveland remains one of two teams that hasn't scored 20 points in a game at least twice in 2024 (Tennessee).
