Nix is Pro Bowl bound

The list of Steelers players taking part in the 2018 Pro Bowl continues to grow, the latest addition being fullback Roosevelt Nix.

Nix was named to the AFC squad, replacing the Patriots James Develin. Eight Steelers players were voted to the Pro Bowl, and Cameron Heyward was also named to the AFC squad last week.

"Rosie doesn't get enough credit," said Le'Veon Bell. "All the things he does for this football team goes unseen. Rosie is the guy. He gets nowhere near enough credit. He does everything he can for me. He puts his health on the line for me. Not only that, he is the first guy there to help me up off the ground."

Nix finished the season with three carries for zero yards, even though he scored a one-yard rushing touchdown, the first of his career. Nix also had two receptions for six yards, including the first receiving touchdown of his career.

But look at the game film, look at Bell's runs, and that is where you see the impact he makes, which includes special teams contributions where he had 10 tackles.

"Rosie is unbelievable," said Alejandro Villanueva. "Watching his play is gory because of the nature of what he does, but he is surprisingly consistent.

"What he brings to the run game is he takes a linebacker on consistently, and does it in a manner to allow Le'Veon to run the ball the way he does, very patiently. He has plenty of time. The guy Rosie is blocking is already on the ground. He is that type of guy. He does his job every single time."

Villanueva is happy to have Nix get his just due, as he has always had nothing but praise for him.

"He is the best," said Villanueva. "If somebody was going to embody what it's like to be a Steelers' player, the quiet, professional, gets his job done approach, and has fun doing it, it's Roosevelt Nix."

The 2018 Pro Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, and simulcast on ABC.
