Lo que menos importa en un partido de Pretemporada es el marcador final. Lo que se busca es evaluar a jugadores clave, evitar las lesiones y ver que se ejecute bien en situaciones específicas.
Es por eso que te presento algunas de las actuaciones a destacar de los Steelers durante este encuentro:
Alex Highsmith
Me parece que él fue el mejor jugador de este equipo durante el juego del Salón de la Fama, lo cual son muy buenas noticias para la defensiva. Highsmith ha tenido un gran Training Camp y todo parece indicar que está reforzando la idea de que será el linebacker externo del lado opuesto a T.J. Watt.
En un rol limitado, consiguió 3 tackleadas y un sack clave para romper una serie dentro de la zona roja.
Najee Harris
Si nos quedamos sólo con los números, la actuación de Najee Harris puede ser discreta (7 acarreos para 22 yardas), sin embargo el corredor novato de los Steelers mostró cosas muy interesantes durante el primer cuarto, con una gran aceleración y visión en el terreno de juego para obtener yardas después del contacto e incluso también tuvo un rol en el juego aéreo.
En su primer partido oficial, Harris le dio una cara diferente a la que ha sido una de las peores ofensivas terrestres de la NFL en los últimos años.
Chase Claypool
El partido comenzó flojo para el WR de segundo año, ya que soltó un pase clave en tercera oportunidad que obligó al equipo a despejar. Sin embargo Claypool se redimió con 62 yardas en tres recepciones, incluyendo la jugada más explosiva del partido, una atrapada de 45 yardas bastante acrobática.
La actuación de los equipos especiales
Si bien se falló un FG durante el segundo cuarto, me gustó mucho la actuación de los equipos especiales en este partido, específicamente del pateador de despeje novato Pressley Harvin III (4 despejes para 183 yardas y tres de ellos terminaron dentro de la yarda 20 del rival, incluyendo una gran patada en el segundo cuarto que dejó encerrados a lo Cowboys en la yarda 1).
No hubo regresos de kickoff, pero Matthew Sexton hizo 36 yardas en un regreso de despeje.
A mejorar:
No todo es perfecto en un partido, y hay algunas cosas que se tienen que seguir puliendo durante los entrenamientos, por ejemplo:
- Tanto Mason Rudolph como Dwayne Haskins tuvieron una actuación "regular". Rudolph tuvo la jugada grande, pero también un fumble y varios pases atrasados. Haskins no pudo brillar en contra del tercer equipo de los Cowboys y si bien tuvo una serie de anotación, fue el peor del equipo en porcentaje de pases completos, intento de yardas por pase y QB rating.
- Durante la primera mitad del partido la defensiva no pudo contener al QB suplente Garrett Gilbert. En cuatro posesiones, Dallas ganó 227 yardas y falló dos FG, además de anotar los primeros tres puntos del partido. Si bien se generó un fumble, se hizo durante lo que parecía una conversión larga de cuarta oportunidad.
