Heinz Field Hosts Fourth of July Celebration

Pittsburgh area residents can celebrate the region's largest Independence Day gathering during the Heinz Field Fourth of July Celebration presented by Coors Light.  Stadium gates open at 2 p.m. on July 4th and admission is free. Parking lots open at 9:30 a.m.

In addition to food, games and family fun, there will be patriotic tributes, fireworks and free concerts during the afternoon and evening, highlighted by country superstar Phil Vassar. Over the years Vassar has proven himself to be one of Nashville's most prolific and versatile stars. Vassar has earned many accolades during his career including being named two-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year, Billboard Magazine Top New Country Artist, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year, *Music Row Magazine *Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and ACM Top New Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of The Year.

Starting at 2:30 p.m., the Ambridge High School Drum Band will perform patriotic selections and summer songs on the South Plaza. At 5 p.m., Pittsburgh-based the Bastard Bearded Irishmen will perform followed by The Stickers at 6:30 p.m. The Stickers have charted five singles in the U.S. and four in Europe, and are three-time Billboard Song Writing Award winners for their original music.  

Heinz Field will also feature a variety of events, including regatta water events, the Steelers Experience, a chance to meet Steely McBeam, Steelers memorabilia in the Great Hall and live broadcasts from WDVE, Y108 and Froggy radio stations. Additionally, the ramps of Heinz Field will be open to view the fireworks, which will begin after Phil Vassar's performance.
