Pittsburgh area residents can celebrate Independence Day at Heinz Field during The Heinz Field Rock the Country Fourth of July Celebration presented by Coors Light. Stadium gates open at 2 p.m. on July 4th and admission is free. Parking lots open at 8 a.m.
In addition to food, games and family fun, there will be free concerts during the afternoon and evening. Vanessa Campagna will be performing and so will the Ambridge High School Steel Drum Band. Country music star, Phil Vassar, will be performing with special guests and Pittsburgh-own, The Stickers.
Vassar continues to be one of the most dynamic singer-songwriters in country music today. He has written six #1 hits for country artists like Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw and has three #1 hits as an artist in his own right. He released his fifth studio album, "Traveling Circus" last December, which peaked at #29 on the U.S. Billboard top country albums chart.
The Stickers, who released their self-titled debut album last summer, currently have three singles in the top 150 country music songs in the nation: "Girl In A Pick Up Truck", "Young Wild & Free" and "You Put The Woo In Me".
Heinz Field will feature a variety of activities in addition to live concerts, including North Shore and river activities all day, live broadcasts from WDVE and Froggy radio. Additionally, the ramps of Heinz Field will be open for the best view of the fireworks, which will begin after the Phil Vassar show.
