The following is the latest installment of Getting To Know, a chance to learn a little more about Steelers' players who were added to the roster over the last few years.
Position: Cornerback
Height: 5-9
Weight: 198
College: University of Texas El Paso (UTEP)
Years Pro: 3
How Acquired: Claimed off of waivers from Jacksonville in 2013.
Football Mentor/Inspiration: Growing up in Jacksonville I was a Jaguars fan so I liked guys like Jimmy Smith and Rashean Mathis then. I tried to mimic those guys. As a kid I played on both sides of the ball so they were some of my favorite playmakers.
Proudest Football Moment/Memory: One of my proudest things was graduating high school knowing I had a full scholarship to attend a University.
Initial NFL Attraction: Playing football was something I always did when I was young so I felt like I could continue to keep going. Once I knew I had a chance to do it I put my all into it and it turned out for me.
Football Mindset: Every day I want to get at least two percent better. I forgot where I heard that from, but I heard it and it stuck with me. I want to get at least two percent better every day, give my all every day and make plays.
Impression of Pittsburgh: I like Pittsburgh a lot. It has a lot of great fans. It's an easy city to get around.
Perception of Steelers: The most Super Bowls in the NFL. A lot of prestige. A winning program. Family. A bunch of hard-working guys.
Goals/Aspirations for 2014: From a team aspect I know the goal for the season is to be holding up that trophy at the end of the season. From a personal aspect, I want to come out and work as hard as I can every day. If I do that I feel like good things will happen for me.
Career Goals: For one I want to turn into an NFL starter and ultimately become an All Pro. I want to do those things. And win. That's what I like to do, just win games.
