Photos: Defensive Backs at the Combine
The NFL Combine came to a close on Tuesday, with the defensive backs sending it off in style.
Cornerback Justin Gilbert from Oklahoma State topped all times for the defensive backs in the 40-yard dash with a blazing 4.37. Not far behind were cornerback Phillips Gaines from Rice and Jason Verrett from Texas Christian University both with a time of 4.38. Cornerback Bradley Roby from Ohio State was the only other defensive back that came in under 4.40 with an impressive time of 4.39.
Cornerbacks Jaylen Watkins from Florida and Brandon Dixon from Northwest Missouri State both put up a 4.41 in the 40.
Florida State's Terrence Brooks had the best time for the safeties, coming in seventh overall for the defensive backs with a 4.42, while Maine cornerback Kendall James registered a 4.44.
Safety Brock Vereen from Minnesota was a star of the bench press for the defensive backs with 25 reps at 225 pounds each to lead the group. Safety Kenny Ladler from Vanderbilt had 24 reps, while cornerbacks Keith Reaser from Florida Atlantic and Watkins both had 22 reps.
