Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School is proud to announce an initiative to honor Ambassador Dan Rooney and Mrs. Patricia Rooney. This initiative is aimed at supporting academic excellence, civic leadership and athletic programs at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School.
As a lasting recognition of the hard work and generosity of Ambassador and Mrs. Rooney, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School is pleased to announce the upgraded athletic practice area will be named Ambassador Dan Rooney Athletic Complex *and the school library will be named *Patricia Rooney Library.
Phase One of the growth initiative will enhance CWNC's library services by expanding student access to technology. Contributions will also enable CWNC student government to participate in leadership development programs throughout the year.
Phase One will also include an upgrade of the current CWNC athletic practice fields, including regrading, adding irrigation, drainage, and new sod. These enhancements will provide improved practice and playing surfaces for CWNC football, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' lacrosse, baseball, and softball teams, as well as the recently established CWNC marching band.
Under the leadership of North Catholic Alumnus and Board member, Kevin Colbert (Class of 1975), this initiative has been established in cooperation with several alumni and family friends in order to honor Ambassador Dan Rooney (Class of 1950 ) and his wife, Patricia.
"Mr. and Mrs. Rooney have touched and influenced so many lives in the areas of education, civic leadership and athletics, that it is only appropriate that we try to honor them with these recognitions, " Colbert said.
Construction is set to start on November 1 with a dedication to follow soon thereafter.
