Brown named performer of the year nominee

The National Football League today announced the five finalists for the 2015 Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Year. The "Castrol EDGE Clutch Performer of the Year" is the best performer or performance of the week that represents strength in key moments.

Fans can vote for one of these five performers on NFL.com/Castrol-EDGE through Thursday, February 4 to determine the*2015 Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Year.*

The winner of the 2015 Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Year will be announced at the "5th Annual NFL Honors" awards show in San Francisco, a two-hour primetime special to air nationally on February 6 on CBS the night before Super Bowl 50.

The five finalists were selected among 17 of the most memorable Castrol EDGE Clutch Performers during the 2015 NFL season. Each week the NFL selected five nominees for the performers of the week in which the fans voted for the winner on NFL.com/Castrol-EDGE.

"Castrol EDGE is known for its strength under severe pressure, maximizing your car's performance," said Rich Pond, Castrol's vice president of marketing, Americas region. "These five finalists for the Castrol EDGE Clutch Performer of the year have proven their strength under pressure to lead their teams to thrilling victories. They are five individuals who have helped make this another exciting NFL season."

A closer look at the nominees:
Week 8 – Drew Brees throws seven touchdowns in Saints' win: Brees completed 39 of 50 passes for 505 yards and seven touchdowns with a 131.7 passer rating in the Saints' 52-49 win over the New York Giants. His seventh touchdown pass tied the game with 0:36 remaining in the game. The Saints would go on to convert the game-winning field goal as time expired.

Week 9 – Antonio Brown's has 284 receiving yards in Steelers' win: Brown recorded 17 catches for 284 yards (16.7 average) in the Steelers' 38-35 win over the Oakland Raiders. His 17 receptions and 284 receiving yards were both franchise records. Brown caught a 57 yard pass on the last drive to set up the game-winning field goal with 0:02 remaining.

Week 10 – Stephen Gostkowski's 54-yard field goal in Patriots' win: Gostkowski converted a 54-yard field goal with 0:01 remaining to give the New England Patriots a 27-26 victory over the New York Giants. The Patriots trailed 26-24 with 1:47 remaining and made a last minute drive to set up Gostkowski's kick.

Week 13 – Jameis Winston's third down scramble in Buccaneers' win: With Tampa Bay trailing Atlanta 19-16, Winston scrambled on third and 19 and converted the first down with a 20-yard run. The run extended the drive and set up the game-winning touchdown pass from Winston to Mike Evans with 1:39 remaining to give the Buccaneers a 23-19 win.

Week 14 – Khalil Mack records five sacks in Raiders' win: Mack led the Raider defense with five sacks and recorded seven tackles as Oakland defeated Denver 15-12. With Oakland trailing 12-7 with 1:58 remaining in the third quarter, Mack sacked Brock Osweiler in the end zone and forced a fumble that resulted in a safety, pulling the Raiders within three points entering the final quarter. His five sacks tied the single-game franchise record set by Pro Football Hall of Famer Howie Long against Washington on October 2, 1983.
