ASK THE STEELERS – DENNIS DIXON – PART 3

Steelers.com brings you the Ask the Steelers feature. Fans submitted the questions that were asked. Please understand that we receive an incredible number of questions for each player, with many of the questions being similar, and not all of the questions can be answered. We selected as many as possible, and took your questions to the current subject to get your answers.

From George Maney in Clearfield, Pennsylvania: What made you decide to play football instead of pursuing baseball with the Atlanta Braves?
Dennis Dixon: I loved the unity, the team camaraderie of us coming together day-in and day-out through practice. I liked that feeling.

From Dan Cook in Powell, Ohio: What do you think will be the biggest adjustment to the NFL for you?

Dennis Dixon: Getting used to the speed. You go to high school and the speed is somewhat fast. You go to college and it's faster. You go to the next level and you are playing against the best people around the world. Getting used to that speed and your teammates.

From Len Morgan in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: Have you heard yet how passionate Steelers fans are about the team and are you looking forward to playing for a team with that kind of atmosphere?

Dennis Dixon: Yes I am. I come from a college that is a college town. I understand that the pro level is somewhat different, but I have been to where it is like that.

From Jim Campbell in Fredericksburg, Virginia: A lot is made about players hitting the rookie wall when the season starts to wear on.  How do you avoid that?
Dennis Dixon: Just by keeping positive and focusing on what my goal is at the end of the year and just keep pushing.

From Steve James in Sanbury, Pennsylvania: What do you like to do to get away from football?
Dennis Dixon: I like to go bowling from time to time. I am an excellent bowler and I like doing that.

From Randy Clinton, York, Pennsylvania: If you were not a football player, what career path would you have followed?

Dennis Dixon: Now that I am into bowling, but I could see myself as a good PBA person and go on tour a little bit.

From Ray Cooper, Sarasota, Florida: Do you enjoy any sports other than football? If so, what and who are your favorite teams?

Dennis Dixon: I love baseball. It's a great sport. I have to stick to the Bay Area where I am from and follow the Oakland A's.

From Mike Powers in Des Moines, Iowa:   Not long from now you will sign a contract and get a signing bonus. What's the first thing you plan on buying with that bonus?
Dennis Dixon: Nothing. I want to keep my head on strong. It's not all about that. I plan on investing and managing my money right. I don't want to go out and go crazy. But I will take care of my family.
