As part of the Super Bowl 50 celebration the Pro Football Hall of Fame Board of Selectors chose the "Super Bowl 50 Golden Team," and not surprisingly the Steelers top the list with eight members.
"The Super Bowl 50 Golden Team is an amazing list of incredible individuals," said Joe Horrigan, Executive Vice President of the Hall of Fame. "Each name conjures up memories of some of the sport's greatest games showcased on its biggest platform, the Super Bowl stage. Unforgettable individual performances like Lynn Swann's acrobatic catches in Super Bowl X are forever etched in the collective memories of football fans and celebrated as some of the most inspiring moments in the history of the National Football League."
Only 27 were chosen to the team, with Chuck Noll the only coach selected.
The Steelers selected to the team are all Hall of Famers: Mel Blount, Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Noll, Lynn Swann and Mike Webster.
All eight were members of the Steelers four Super Bowl teams in the 1970s and were a group that helped to rewrite Steelers history.
